A fairy tale not only for children about courage, human stupidity and true human happiness, which is often within reach.
Three retired soldiers: artilleryman Pankrác, dragoon Bimbác and military cook Servác are penniless after being discharged from the army. They receive magical gifts from kind-hearted elves: a harp that "makes" soldiers, servants, etc., a top hat that conjures up anything you can think of, and a bottomless purse full of gold coins. With these gifts, they wander the world until they arrive in the kingdom of Monte Albo. King Pikola lives there with his servant and the beautiful princess Bosana. The veterans immediately fall under her spell. So it's not difficult for Bosana and Pikola to deprive them of all their magical gifts and have them banished from the country. The veterans return to the place where they met the elves. They have no choice but to reconsider what is truly most important in the world. The elves decide to give the retired soldiers one more chance. From a magic tree, the veterans get an apple that makes their noses grow, and a pear that makes their noses return to their original shape. With this magic fruit, they rush back to Monte Alba. Bimbác (disguised as a salesman) gives Pikol the apple for Bosana to make her healthier and even more beautiful. Bosana bites it and grows a long, lanky nose that even crosses the borders of the kingdom. It's an international disgrace. What now? Everything is collapsing in Monte Alba? But Pankrác, Bimbác and Servác are already outside the palace doors, disguised as doctors, to remove the princess's nose...
