Before they became the famous Transformers, Orion Pax (the future Optimus Prime) and D-16 (the future Megatron) were ordinary mechanical inhabitants of the planet Cybertron who still lacked the ability to transform. While D-16 fully respected all the fairly strict regulations in place on his world, Orion Pax violated them as much as he could. Still, they were the best of buddies who would stick their hand into a melting furnace for the other. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances and Optima's adventurous nature, they find themselves on the run from justice, where they are joined by the toy Bumblebee and the badass Elita-1. Together they travel to the places where their planet was born, to a forbidden and hidden corner of the world from ordinary mortals, where they discover the legendary warrior Alpha Trion, who has protected their homeland since time immemorial. It is from him that the four adventurers gain the ability to transform at will. But before it's enough to "goof off" properly, they have to use the acquired skills for much more important purposes. Cybertron is in mortal danger and only the truly exceptional can save it. But they have to stick together, a task as difficult as saving the entire world. After the successful live-action Transformers series, which consists of six films and one trailer called Bumblebee, comes an animated version that is supposed to be the start of a planned trilogy. "The whole film takes place on Cybertron, there are no people in it, only robots, animation was simply the most natural choice," explains director Josh Cooley, whose novelty has the ambition to target a family audience with its playfulness and lightness.
