Young nurse Marie Sahulová (A. Mihulová), "the last virgin on the intro", decides to become a real woman no matter what. But she is unlucky, the porter catches her with a patient and she has to go to a secluded border village as a punishment. Her colleague becomes a wise and experienced woman called Babi (J. Jirásková), and she initiates the girl into life in a peculiar way and guides her along the paths of its sorrows and beauties. Maria's story winds through a number of colorful episodes, it is populated by striking characters, whose lives are always open to the "nurses" more intimately than to other people...
