Madagascar in the 1970s seemed like a paradise at first glance, especially from the perspective of a ten-year-old boy who escaped his daily life into the world of comic books. But in one of the last colonies of the crumbling French colonial empire, the illusion of peace is fading. Behind the safe walls of a French military base, social discontent is growing.
