He left home to follow his calling and become a doctor on the other side of the world. Now Rob Cole is returning to Britain to spread the knowledge of the famous Avicenna, considered a pioneer of Western medicine. But he has moved away from his compatriots by more than a thousand kilometers... He will therefore have to withstand both the medieval island practices and the insidious intrigues of London doctors, who feel threatened by Rob's unusual methods and his success. And in an effort to save the lives of others, he will often risk his own. The sequel to the bestseller Ranhojič, which has sold an incredible 20 million copies, is coming to cinemas, with the stars of the cult series The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
The year is 1050. A young British doctor, Rob Cole, returns to his homeland with a clear goal. He dreams of building a hospital for the poor in London and putting into practice the advanced medical techniques he learned during his studies with the famous Avicenna, who is now considered the most famous doctor of his time. But he soon encounters a hard blow. His intention to treat people in unprecedented ways that explore not only the human body but also the soul, and for free, is hindered not only by medieval obscurantism with its pervasive prejudices, but also by the king's healer Hunne. He has other interests at court than his professional ones, and the monarch's fragile health comes in very handy.
The epic medieval film Ranhojič is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name, the release of which aroused extraordinary interest worldwide not only among readers but also among historians, who appreciated the combination of a captivating narrative set in medieval realities. The author of the successful bestseller Noah Gordon did his utmost to provide a believable description of individual medical procedures: in addition to studying the history of medicine and various contemporary and long-forgotten surgical procedures, he also got a job in a hospital.
The first part of Rob Cole's story, in which he learns about Avicenna's teachings, was adapted into a film in 2013, released in more than 60 countries and became a box office hit. The main role was played by Tom Payne, who also plays the central character of the determined doctor in Ranhojič II. "Few actors have the opportunity to return to a role they have already played. Let alone after 10 years and a character known and loved by millions of people, and to participate in a new adventure that explores essential and universal themes in an epic and engaging story. I look forward to audiences once again immersing themselves in Rob Cole's world and enjoying a timeless cinematic experience," said the English actor, who also made his mark as Jesus in the series The Walking Dead. Alongside him, the spectacular sequel will also feature Liam Cunningham, Owen Teale and Aidan Gillen, all three of whom are known from the popular Game of Thrones.
