Stopping your car in the middle of the night on a deserted road can be a horror. Anyone who does it should expect the worst. Viewers of the film Passenger, directed by André Ovredal, will never do something like it again.
A young couple expecting a child wants to have one more real adventure before they turn three. So they rent a camper and set off on a carefree drive through the American countryside. The fun lasts until they see a fresh accident in the middle of the night and stop to help the victims. But they can't help the boy, collapsed behind the wheel. But there's something else at the scene of the accident. Something sinister that remains hidden. At least for now. At the campsite where they spend the next night, they are told the legend of the Passenger, a terrifying ghost who terrorizes those who stop. In the middle of the forest, in the middle of the road, just like these two adventurers. According to legend, such unfortunate people have no chance and their last few moments or days of life await them. It would be easy to put it behind them if bad luck hadn't started to stick to their heels, if the recurring terrifying visions could be rationally explained, and if the nearness of death wasn't directly tangible.
Director André Ovredal made an excellent mystery horror film, The Mystery of the Death of Miss Unknown, which kept the audience in constant suspense from the first minute and interspersed the plot with effective scares. The same can be "looked forward to" in The Passenger. There won't be much room to breathe a sigh of relief here.
