Few people today have grandparents who could tell them about the war. The documentary film Memory of War is therefore an encounter with a generation that is no longer here – and yet remains so close. It is
meeting with World War II airmen, partisans and resistance fighters, which we ourselves experience thanks to our daily
work with the Memory of the Nation and now we want to convey it to the general public. Where did they find the courage?
How did they fight fear? And what message did they leave us for today? Their voices now
come to life again: not as an echo of the past, but as a mirror of the present, in which war once again changes
world.
Testimonies will be used in the film Josef Balejka, Jiřina Tvrdíková, Josef Citterberg and dozens of other testimonies from the Memory of the Nation archive that have never been made into a film.
