This pearl of the Arabian Peninsula has experienced a huge tourism boom in recent years. Most tourists head south to the holiday resort of Salalah, but we look north to the capital city of Muscat and its surroundings, which has a lot to offer. Unlike the neighboring United Arab Emirates, you won't find any skyscrapers in Oman, but the architecture here is like something from the fairy tale of One Thousand and One Nights. In Muscat, we will see the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the National Opera House, many other sights, but we will also head to the fish market or the famous Mutrah Souq. We will also go to the mountains that rise to a height of 3000 meters not far from Muscat and we will not miss the Wahiba Sands desert in the east of the country.
Since the main focus of traveler Michal Černý is underwater photography, diving was one of the main goals for the trip to Oman. They chose the Daymaniyat Islands nature reserve, which consists of nine small islands less than an hour's sail from Muscat. The place is popular mainly due to the presence of cards and whale sharks, which gather here due to the large amount of plankton contained in the water. But of course there is much more to see underwater...
