The story of Nosferatu, a legendary horror film from the early era of cinema, is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, with only a few details changed from the original. More than a century after its creation, the distinctive director Robert Eggers has made a new adaptation. Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp) would be a happy newlywed if she weren't haunted by terrifying nightmares. Her husband Thomas (Nicholas Hoult) must also travel to the wilds of Eastern Europe on business to broker a deal for the mysterious Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgard). Who would have thought that there is a direct connection between the trip and the dreams, that the Hutters have become pawns in the nobleman's game, whose goal is to expand the reign of absolute evil across the continent? Despite the incredible hardships that Thomas goes through because of his encounter with Orlok, he eventually manages to return home. But his return does not mean victory. Ellen slowly succumbs to madness and darkness and death spread everywhere around. The only person on the couple's side is the eccentric Professor Eberhart von Franz (Willem Dafoe), who knows how powerful an enemy they are facing. Will this be enough to stop Nosferatu? Robert Eggers' films are united by an oppressive atmosphere that can be transferred from the screen to the audience. That's why Nosferatu was the ideal story for him. The period horror was largely filmed in the Barrandov studios, and well-traveled viewers will also get to know some Czech castles and chateaux. "With each new film, I try to push myself beyond the limits of my abilities," says Eggers, promising viewers an experience that will make their blood run cold. If they still have any in them.
