The film charts a period in the life of figure skater Ondrej Nepela, when he returns in 1972 with a gold medal from the Winter Olympics in Sapporo, where he achieved his greatest sporting success. At home, not only fame awaits him, but also the reality of the communist regime. Everyone treats him like a celebrity, but the sensitive Ondrej yearns above all to escape from this unpleasant golden cage. He wants to live freely and in harmony with who he feels he is. However, the promised chance to go to a professional ice show is denied to him at the last minute and he is ordered to participate in the next world championship. Disappointed, Nepela must find new motivation and also come to terms with the tragic death of his best friend, figure skater Hana Mašková.

"With the film, we want to bring to light the life story of an exceptional figure in sports history. The Olympic champion from Sapporo 1972, figure skater Ondrej Nepela, is an inspiring role model even decades after his successful career. It is important for us and interesting for the audience to remember and bring the stories of people who have become legends. Ondrej Nepela is one of them," adds the film's producer Ivan Ostrochovský.
