The feature film Don't Fear, Breathe, Magic, directed by Dan Svátek, will offer an intimate and very open look at the personality of artist David Stypka, who succumbed to a serious illness five years ago.
In addition to his family, the documentary also features the members of the band Bandjeez (keyboardist Pavel Sotoniak, drummer Matěj Drabina and bassist Maro Zeman), Kateřina Marie Tichá, Ewa Farna, Mirai and Jindra Polák from the band Jelen. Martin Ledvina (producer), Martin Červinka (publisher) and Terezie Kovalová (guest cellist) also speak about David.
Filming of Don't Be Afraid, Breathe, and Magic took place mostly in northern Moravia – in his native village of Dobrá and in Frýdek-Místek and its surroundings. The filmmakers also visited Prague, Brno, and a festival in the Romanian Banat.
"Without exaggeration, I can say that it was a great adventure and that the story developed in a different direction than I originally intended. I wanted to describe David as truthfully and honestly as possible, because that's who he was. Therefore, the viewer will find things in the film that even those closest to him had no idea about. It was often a difficult dilemma what to let out and what not. After agreement with family and friends, the film is released in its full and open form. Because that's who David was," says director Dan Svátek.
