Mord

The slaughterhouse is held every year at the old people's house in Osoblažsk. It's the only day of the year when the whole family gets together to chat, eat, drink and just live. But this year everything is different. The grandfather has been trampling since morning and doesn't know how to tell his son-in-law Karl that he is the last killer. Karl's daughter Romana misses her mother and her sister Lucia's marriage is falling apart. Her son Dušan does not know how to orient himself in the collisions of the female and male worlds, uncle Šupin is dangerously sucking from the morning, the butcher Tonda is hiding that he has wet patrons and the problematic neighbor is plotting how to take revenge on everyone for his messed up life. During such a day, the resistance of mutual bonds is tested, revealing the strength and fragility of relationships shaped by traditions, love and grievances. Mord is the feature debut of director Adam Martinec, a native of Krnov in the Moravian-Silesian region. "I often return to Osoblažsko. It is a fascinating island in the middle of nowhere, it is far from the Czech Republic and Poland. People either leave there or live there all their lives. It is a forgotten but beautiful place where beautiful people live," explains the director of the film, why he set his story here. The film Mord made it to the Main Competition of the 58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
