Musical adaptation of Karel Čapek's drama about the desire for eternal youth
The year is 1922, and in two hours it will be midnight. A New Year's Eve show begins in the newly opened Lucerna in Prague, starring the excellent singer Emilia Marty. Before the New Year arrives, this mysterious femme fatale manages to turn the lives of practically everyone she meets upside down. This time, however, she uncompromisingly pursues her own interest, thanks to which she has been alive for three hundred years - the Makropulos Case. How will the hunt for the elixir of youth end? What happens when we violate the laws of nature? How much is the beauty of human life affected by the fact that we are not immortal?
Karel Čapek's famous play about the falseness of the desire for eternal youth is still alive a hundred years after its premiere, and given the advances that humanity and its medicine have made since then, it seems even more urgent today, almost immortal.
Please note that there is smoking in the production!
