One of the most popular "toys" of 2023 is back. The deadly M3GAN doll will once again be willing to literally walk over dead bodies to protect her human partner.
In the first installment of the horror film M3GAN, inventor Gemma (Allison Williams) experienced firsthand that some toys are too dangerous to be released for sale. When she successfully shut down her own creation, the humanoid robot M3GAN, which took the task of protecting her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) too literally at all costs, she vowed to avoid any further experiments of this kind. Little did she know, however, that her plans for creating the doll had been stolen by a group of arms dealers. They managed to not only reconstruct and revive the robot, but also significantly improve it. The potential deadly threat has become an unstoppable murderous monster, and Gemma and Cady are to be one of its targets. What is the use of a robot killer? Only another robot killer. Therefore, Gemma creates M3GAN 2.0, a significantly improved model of her original invention, and hopes that it will be enough to compete with the competition. Or that he won't turn against her like he did last time.
Both M3GAN parts were directed by Gerard Johnstone, who decided to resist the temptation to make the second part bigger, better and more epic than the first at all costs. "For me, the most important thing was not to repeat myself. I decided to take the characters into a different environment and set new rules for them. That's what I enjoy the most about it and I hope the audience will enjoy it too," says the director.
