Lunapark in the head for the third time. Trutnov will welcome the top figures of contemporary Czech literature

Caffé UFFO and the Hrádeček area will transform into a center of contemporary Czech literature on Saturday, September 26. The third annual Lunapark v hlavé literary festival will offer author readings, meetings with writers, poets, and musicians, and will present a number of holders or laureates of the most important Czech literary awards. Admission to the festival is traditionally free.

During its first two years, the festival has built a reputation as a chamber event with high-quality dramaturgy. This year will be no different. The program will connect established figures of Czech literature with prominent authors of the younger generation and offer visitors the opportunity to meet them in an intimate atmosphere.

"From the beginning, we wanted to create a festival that would not be based on the number of names, but on the quality of the program and personal meetings. Lunapark v hlavě is primarily a place of dialogue between authors and readers. We are pleased that this year we have managed to invite writers and poets who are among the most interesting that contemporary Czech literature has to offer," says the festival's dramaturg Jan Kunze.

The program will start at 2 p.m. at Hrádeček with a joint reading of texts by Václav Havel, featuring Miroslav Hlaučo, Karel Škrabal, and Jan Kunze. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Dalibor Mácha and Krista Kasper from the group Vitrholc.

The afternoon and evening program at Caffé UFFO will offer authorial performances by Člobrdan (Jan Jícha), Jan Těsnohlídek, Zbyněk Mrvík, Jiří Koten, Olga Stehlíková, and Miroslav Hlauč, whose first novel Pentecost won the Magnesia Litera award for debut of the year.

The festival will close at 8 p.m. with a concert by the legendary band Vítrholc, which has been connecting poetry with music in an original way for more than three decades.

This year's program will present authors of different generations and poetic genres - from poetry to prose to slam poetry and musical-literary performances. The common denominator of all performances is the emphasis on the living word and direct contact with the audience.

"Literature is not confined to the pages of books. It comes to life when the author reads it, interprets it, and shares it with others. It is this energy that we want to convey to visitors. Lunapark v zapad is not just a festival of author readings, but a celebration of living literature," adds Jan Kunze.

All programs are free to access. As every year, the moderators will be Michal Dědek and Jan Kunze.
