The exhibition The Fragile Balance presents the latest work by Czech painter and multimedia artist Lucie Jindrák Skřivánková. Known for her large-format paintings, murals and textile installations, the artist now also ventures into the realm of abstract sculpture. Concrete and stainless steel objects – created in collaboration with designer Robin Fišer, among others – push her thinking about balance, tension and corporeality into a new spatial dimension.
The exhibition focuses on the Precarious Calm 2025 series, which develops principles that Lucie explored during her time in South Korea – the combination of glass and building material, verticality, biomorphic forms, quiet tension and balance. The sculptures evoke Zen gardens, but in the author’s interpretation their calmness is dramatically distorted. Visually, they appear as the embodiment of the moment just before a fall – between collapse and tension, between tension and relaxation, between silence and hidden inner strength.
The exhibition thematizes the delicate balance between matter and spirit, between control and surrender. It is about the effort not to lose the center – in oneself, in the world, in relation to movement and external pressures. The contrast between concrete, glass and shiny stainless steel is not only aesthetic – it is also symbolic. It reveals our deeply rooted tension between the natural and the artificial, structure and intuition, fear and the flow of life. Lucie Skřivánková’s visual language remains strongly emotional and physically grounded – the works invite touch, pause and inner resonance.
The Fragile Balance exhibition is a quiet resistance to a world that craves precision and order. It is a reminder that stability is not a state, but a process – and that the greatest strength often comes when everything seems on the edge.
The opening will take place on Tuesday, November 25th from 5:00 PM.
