According to Jiří Guth-Jarkovský, "decency is innate in humans, but politeness must be learned". Our social behavior is the best representation of our personality, as well as that of a company or office, it creates better conditions for successful negotiations and inspires the trust of those around us. Proficiency in the rules of social behavior is not an archaism from Guth-Jarkovský's time, it is an everyday practical need in professional, social and personal life. The rules of etiquette are constantly changing, just as human society is changing, so it is necessary to know and apply them. Etiquette is today a prerequisite for success in professional, social and personal life.

In my lecture this time I will focus on family and social events. Etiquette in the family includes many forms of behavior, for example, between parents, parents and children, and between children themselves. We will talk about family celebrations, birthdays, weddings, proms, how to properly present gifts and flowers, what a meeting in a cafe, a business lunch should look like, how to properly present or accept an award at a company celebration.
Dining etiquette will be an important topic, which is difficult because we dine mostly in closed family communities, where various habits are passed down from generation to generation, and often even bad habits that we picked up from our parents or grandparents and now pass on to our children. We will talk about how to dine properly so that an invitation to dinner at a good restaurant, a wedding reception or a business trip to London does not surprise us. We will also note what a visit to a restaurant with children should look like.
