A passionate outburst of love snatches Albert and Kateřina from the everyday grayness of their lives and they fall head over heels in love. With the conception of a child comes a harsh clash with the unresolved past and the reality of surrogacy. The love affair shocks with its openness, binds with emotions and wounds with the truth. Childhood traumas and inherited patterns of behavior arouse feelings of alienation and, despite all efforts, prevent them from experiencing love without fear and doubt. The love story inspired by real events was filmed by Milan Cieslar, who learned from Věra Chytilová and František Vláčil, representatives of the so-called new wave, the most famous era of Czech cinema, and is credited with the award-winning dramas Pramen života, Krev zmizelého or Colette. Love has many forms and Albert, Kateřina and Gábina do not hesitate to go to the extremes in their desire for it. They fully enjoy casual sex and the feeling of independence that brings them to a swingers club. They want to have fun and, most importantly, not solve anything. Or not admit it? With each next touch, their physical attraction grows into an emotional one and they willy-nilly reveal their vulnerability. Years of emotional hardship, anxiety and fear of their own failure begin to manifest themselves and bring tension to the love triangle. This is even more intense when Kateřina says that she wants Albert's child. Instead of joyful anticipation, uncertainty and ultimatums come. Where Love Ends is a story about a strong love relationship, the eternal rapprochement and coexistence of a man and a woman, in which the partners selflessly learn to listen and break down the barriers they have built around themselves and which alienate them from their surroundings and those they love. At the same time, it is about a self-destructive effort to survive in a world where success is measured by the size of a bank account and the number of properties. Director and screenwriter Milan Cieslar tells it without embellishment or sentimentality, as he filmed the love story full of intimacy, eroticism and manipulation based on real events. It shows the extreme manifestations of love that modern times bring with them and which provide superficial satisfaction, but also a burdensome feeling of emotional emptiness. The three main roles have an international cast, namely actor Ivan Franek, who has worked in France and Italy for years, and actresses Zuzana Částková and Ivona Baković, a native of Split, Croatia.
