KAROLÍNA ŠULCOVÁ, HANA SOMMEROVÁ, ELIŠKA HANUŠ A KRISTÝNA ŠORMOVÁ: RESONANCE

The term resonance, traditionally belonging to the field of music, points to melodic intertwining, which results in the enrichment of the musical whole. Etymologically, the word resonance is derived from resonantia (Latin echo, to sound again), but it does not necessarily indicate mere reproduction, but the emergence of a new mode of revelation, in which the world becomes audible differently. The exhibition complex bearing the same name and presenting the work of Karolína Šulcová, Eliška Hanuš, Hana Sommerová and Kristýna Šormová points to the harmony of the artistic worlds of four authors, their melodic layering and the birth of new spheres of meaning as a result of this interaction. There is a silent composition of layers, folds, the subtle emergence of lived experience, fragile and vulnerable touches, which allow each other to intervene and transform in dialogue. Each of them undergoes its own topological groping. Karolína Šulcová listens to the transitional places, the thresholds of memory, and mobilizes the frame as a calming means, enabling us to grasp the passing temporality; Hana Sommerová lets her inner world resonate with the outer one, until both landscapes vibrate in one, time-breathed view, the world and the body become each other's echo; Eliška Hanuš slowly, meditatively translates traces of human presence and observes heterotopias as a mirror, a way to better understand the current complicated reality; Kristýna Šormová, through a haptic dialogue with space, embarks on a courageous, open exploration of new landscape scenes through corporeality, that often unnoticed silent vibration between the seer and the seen, in which lived experience opens up. Although the artistic expression, the inner landscape of each of the authors is completely unique and specific, their works lean towards each other. They react to each other, layer each other, find moments of flow, vibrate in visual contemplation. They embark on a joint search. They resonate.
