Blanche falls madly in love with Grégoire. He has everything a woman could want, and their relationship grows stronger and more passionate: they get married and live together. But what follows is no fairy tale. Blanche is isolated from those close to her, especially her twin sister Rose, and ends up trapped by a possessive and dangerous man. The film depicts how women endure a subordinate role and suffer violence. The film, co-written by Audrey Diwan, does not focus, as is customary in such dramas, on tension and resolution, but on the mechanism of control and on women's self-confidence - on the courage to break the silence. Director Valérie Donzelli ventures into a gray area where the controlled woman becomes the victim of compromises and where the aggressor balances on the edge between tenderness and violence.
