Dazzling British composer and pianist Neil Cowley creates deeply captivating and captivating music that is poetic and fragile, grand and wild and wild. With references to Claude Debussy and Steve Reich, as well as Spiritualized and Arcade Fire, it is powerful enough to completely subvert conventional perceptions of the genre. Its emotion and energy will astound lovers of any music.
Already at the age of 10, pianist and composer Neil Cowley showed his immense talent when he played Shostakovich's Piano Concerto and later even studied at the Royal Academy in London. As a teenager, however, he gave up on a career in classical music and entered the world of good old RnB, soul, funk and by 17 he was already working with the most successful musicians of the time. In 2005, Cowley returned to his first love - the piano - and founded the Neil Cowley Trio. Their dynamic and charged music, in which jazz meets rock poetics, immediately catapulted them to the forefront of the new British post-jazz movement. Heavy catchy melodies, powerful riffs and inscrutably playful passages mixed with sensitively urgent heartbreaking beauty define their music - Cowley and his band have turned the concept of a piano jazz trio upside down.

The Neoil Cowley Trio also won the BBC Jazz Award for Best Album in 2007; Loud… Louder… Stop (2008), which Mojo hailed as a "modern classic"; Radio Silence (2010) and The Face of Mount Molehill (2012), which they recorded with a string ensemble and for which they won the Jazz FM Award for Best Jazz Act of 2013.
In addition to his trio, Cowley has been a leading pianist in recent years for soul and pop projects that require jazz technique and rhythmic flexibility. It was undoubtedly his collaboration with Adele on her album 19 and the worldwide hit 21 that made him literally the most listened to pianist on the planet in 2011.
The Cowley Trio has now naturally returned to its original sound, contemporary jazz or perhaps post-jazz, influenced by both ambient, downtempo, dream pop or post-rock haze, as well as contemporary music. Neil Cowley has particularly fallen in love with minimalist, or if you like, serialistic, approaches.
