The comedy How to Make a Theatre, inspired by Karel Čapek's column of the same name from the collection How to Make a Theatre, opens the door to what usually remains dark – behind the scenes of theatre production. What happens before the first curtain falls? How many emotions, confusions, minor disasters, passions and misunderstandings must unfold before a single evening under the spotlight can be created? With typical Čapková insight and irony, we will look into a world where, alongside dramatic characters, there are even more dramatic directors, actors, lighting designers and authors. And where compromises are often born instead of fame. This theatrical comedy is not only a tribute to theatre, but also its subtle parody. Theatre is not just an illusion – but also a craft, hard work and collective magic. And what's the funniest thing about it? That not much has actually changed since the days of Karel Čapek...
