For many years he lived alone under the Monte Rosa massif on the border of Italy and Switzerland, where his most famous novel, The Eight Mountains, is set. In his latest documentary, he not only presents this natural majesty, which is transformed every year by human influence, but also portrays the personal stories of Cognetti's mountain neighbors, who have dedicated their lives to running mountain huts in the harsh but beautiful rocky altitude, cut off from the hectic modern civilization. Together with them and his dog Laki, the director sets off on a journey and explores the themes of friendship, solitude, the search for an authentic life and the inevitability of change - whether in nature or in human life.
