A concert film documenting the glorious era during which the legendary Elvis Presley lived and performed in Las Vegas. Director Baz Luhrmann discovered unique and previously unseen footage while preparing for the feature film Elvis and edited it into a musical experience.
In the late 1960s, Elvis Presley went to Las Vegas to play a few shows. But the constantly sold-out venues changed his plans, so that a few weeks stretched into an incredible seven years. Director Baz Luhrmann used found footage from this period to create a powerful musical experience, in which Elvis's greatest hits alternate with unique behind-the-scenes footage that shows the artist not only as a musician, but above all as a human being.
“We wanted to make a film that was neither a documentary nor a classic concert recording. We tried to give the audience a dreamlike experience, a cinematic poem in which Elvis sings and tells his life story in a style they had never seen before,” says director Baz Luhrmann.
