Parts 9 - 12
Very expressive sculptures were created by Emil Schwantner for the monuments to the victims of the First World War in the villages of Božanov, Horní Žďár, Voletiny and Teplice nad Metují, all of which will appear in the ninth part of the series during the third premiere screening. The tenth part includes another specific group of monuments, which is based on the simple principle of an obelisk or boulder, decorated with a bust, as in the case of the JW Goethe monument in the Adršpašské skály, or a relief, as we see, for example, in the City Park in Trutnov. The tenth part also deals with the similarity of the monuments in Strážné and the monuments in Dědov, Studnice, Skalka and Broumov, which show a certain degree of inspiration by Schwantner's aesthetics. The eleventh part focuses on Schwantner's decorative work on architecture, whether it is the former Tippelt shed in Horní Malá Úpa or the relief decorations in the restaurant at Luční bouda. The monument in Velká Úpa deserves special attention. The eleventh part also takes us to the museums of the Krkonoše expatriate associations in Marktoberdorf and Würzburg, where there are rare collections of sculptures and reliefs by Emil Schwantner. The last, twelfth part of the series is dedicated to the relief work of Emil Schwantner, when we look at the gravestones in Malá Úpa, in Svoboda nad Úpou, the monument in Chvalč and the reliefs created by Schwantner for Trutnov. The piece closes with a statue of a schoolboy, created for the tomb in Horní Maršov, which, however, was stolen from the tomb in 2012 and, like many of the monuments, is presented in the series only through photographic documentation.
