Parts 5 - 8
The second premiere screening will present parts 5-8, again summarizing certain thematic groups of sculptures, tombstones and monuments that Schwantner created for public space. The fifth part begins at the cemetery in Horní Maršov, where the sandstone tombstone of the Fries family by Emil Schwantner has been preserved, well illustrating Franz Metzner's inspiration for Schwantner's work. This influence was then also reflected in the depiction of the mythological figure of the knight Rüdiger, as can be seen in Křinice or Trutnov. The piece closes with a statue of St. Václav in Dolní Adršpach. A separate group also consists of the monuments created by Schwantner for Vlčice, Kyje, Horní Brusnice, Dubenec and Kocbeře, which are the subject of the sixth volume. The seventh episode will take viewers first to the area of the defunct village of Libná in Broumovska and neighboring Zdoňov, and from there to Žacléř and Studenec. The theme of the work is religious themes and depictions of Jesus, not very common in Schwantner's work, but nevertheless significant. Mysticism was just as important a topic for Emil Schwantner as mythology, and the eighth volume is dedicated to this, focusing on Schwantner's Dance with Death cycle, elaborated into many variants. In the eighth part, we will visit Olešnice in Orlické hory and Trutnov.
