A unique documentary portrait of Ester Geislerová is an intimate journey of a daughter into the inner world of her prematurely deceased father, the renowned Japanologist and calligrapher Petr Geisler. Family archives, personal letters, memories of friends and contrasts between the grayness of normalization Czechoslovakia and the vibrant Tokyo of the 1980s create a multi-layered portrait of a fragile artist. It is a film about human failures and successes, about the desire for freedom and the attempt to capture the fleeting trace of a person with enormous charm and Renaissance talent, who remained a mystery to his own family in many ways. The film will have its world premiere at the 60th Karlovy Vary IFF in the Special Screening section.
