The captivating life story of Czech doctor Vlasta Kálalová-di Lotti, based on the novel by Ilona Borská.

 

They told her that it was pointless for a woman to try to become a surgeon. They said that someone should go to the Middle East to study tropical diseases, but a woman herself had no business there. And they said that what she would experience there would definitely not last. So she learned twelve languages, opened a private practice in the center of Baghdad, and for women in orthodox Muslim society and their children, she often became the only chance at life. Vlasta Kálalová-di Lotti, a doctor from Bernartice in South Bohemia, found a love in the Orient that was worth trying to outwit death and staying awake for a thousand and one nights. The songs were sung by Sára Černochová and Ivan Acher. All music used in the performance is original.
