Rebecca Zlotowska's fifth feature Children of Others premiered in 2022 as a competition film at the Venice Film Festival. He captivated the audience with a deeply moving and sharply drawn portrait of one woman's changing feelings, triggered by maternal instincts and social pressure. Rachel (the dazzling Virginia Efira) is a contented 40-year-old teacher who likes her life, her friends, her work, and even her ex-lovers. He is toying with the idea of having his own child, but he does not particularly desire one. The idea appeals to her, but at the same time it makes her anxious - an authentic dilemma faced by many women her age. When Rachel meets the charming divorcee Ali (Roschdy Zem), she falls in love not only with him, but also with his young daughter Leila. As a new family situation develops rapidly, Rachel must contend with the complicated feelings of longing for motherhood and the fear of losing what she calls the "collective experience" of motherhood. Even if you don't think so at the beginning of the film because of Rebecca Zlotowska's gentle, unaffected attitude, this picture will probably break your heart.
