Bubák

The parents of twelve-year-old Nikča and six-year-old Tomáš are going away for the weekend, and thanks to this, the children have their entire apartment to themselves for the first time in their lives. And without supervision! Great! Nikča immediately decides that for a sweet bribe, he will clean his brother's room and invite his friend Gabča, saying that they will have pizza, watch a horror movie on video and have a good time. But they are not destined to watch a forbidden movie. Instead, they experience a small horror encounter firsthand. It starts with the unexpected appearance of Ondra, a high school senior with a hangover, and the disturbers of the peace are joined by his brother Tomáš, who cannot stand being in his room. He has a Bubák under his bed and he is just climbing out. The girls' weekend is simply in full swing, and it turns out that Tomáš is not the only one who "has a Bubák under his bed", each of them is afraid of something. Even Bubák himself. Director Tomáš Pavlíček reveals about the film: "We tried to make it a combination of a bit of a scary movie and more of a comedy. The boggart is there, but it's not terribly scary, we want both young and old viewers to laugh during the film." Pavlíček also confesses his relationship with under-the-bed ghosts: "As a child, of course, I was afraid of the monsters under my bed, I was afraid to even look there. My mother used to scare me with them regularly, so in this film I'm trying to break through the fear of my childhood. For me, it's a return to childhood and adolescence."
