"I want people to say, 'This is the best time I've had at the cinema in years.' When you realize how high the expectations are, don't be surprised that the film took so long and had several writers and directors. The only way to make a movie that will appeal not only to fans of the Borderlands game, but also to the average viewer, is to make a simply great shooter. It wouldn't be possible without the best actors. The Borderlands cast is perfect, they're the best I've ever worked with. Everyone went into it fully and with all their hearts. I chose Cate Blanchett for the main role, our love of horror films brought us together once upon a time. When people look at Cate they see her with a baton, I see her with a flamethrower. She learned incredible stunts, she wanted to shoot almost everything herself, she's perfect," director Eli Roth praises the collaboration with the winner of two Oscars, four Golden Globes and four British Academy Film Awards. And what about the actress herself? “Eli called me when he was preparing this film and asked me to read the script just out of friendship. He didn't talk about me playing the main role at all. He just wanted my opinion. Then when we talked about it, he told me that he would like to see me as a badass bounty hunter in the same way that Clint Eastwood was in The Man With No Name or Snake Plissken in Escape from New York. He convinced me with that, because it's my favorite movie," says Cate Blanchett.
