The programme brings together four choreographies of contemporary dance theatre. The musical accompaniment of two of them commemorates important anniversaries of world composers Georges Bizet and Maurice Ravel. The performers are members of the Ballet Praha Junior company.
FIVE HEAVENLY SOLOS
Choreography: Lidia Wos
Music: Georges Bizet
The company staged Five Heavenly Solos as a gesture of thanks for its long-standing collaboration, since 2006, with Lidia Wos, a Swedish choreographer of Polish origin. At the same time, it is a tribute to the composer Georges Bizet on the 150th anniversary of his death. The individual solos present the originality of a woman’s inner life, as well as her place in society.
I RECOGNISE
Choreography: Vlasta Schneiderová
Music: Petr Hapka
“I Recognise” is a reminiscence of many years of work in Ballet Praha Junior, from its founding to the present day. It is based on the fateful connection between Petr Hapka and Michal Horáček, composer and poet — a unique symbiosis of music and words that speaks of human experience, anxiety, hope, and the desire for understanding and harmony.”
ABBY
Choreography: Šimon Kubáň
Music: Travis Lake
A former member of Ballet Praha Junior and now an established choreographer of the youngest generation chose music by the contemporary British composer Travis Lake.
ROUGE
Choreography: Attila Egerházi
Music: Maurice Ravel
The works of Hungarian choreographer Attila Egerházi, thanks to a long-term collaboration dating back to 1999, form a cornerstone of Ballet Praha Junior’s repertoire. The choreographer created Rouge as a tribute to Maurice Ravel — in 2025, we commemorated the 150th anniversary of his birth.
