BATOLATERNA
Historically the first production of the National Theater and the Laterna of Magic intended for babies!
Children from 6 months to 3 years old will enter the theater together with their adult companion, which will be transformed into a magical world of toddlers. This world beckons, enchants and encourages discovery. We do not tell toddlers a story, but with the help of non-verbal language, dance and objects, we offer them comprehensible situations that encourage their curiosity. BatoLaterna is based on everyday life and targets the basic senses of the smallest viewers, thanks to which they can discover sounds, colors, shapes and the firmness or softness of things around them. In doing so, the production does not lose its theatrical form and will thus be the first contact with a real theater for babies. BatoLaterna is non-verbal, so it will be understandable to children and their adult companions regardless of their native language. Theater for toddlers is booming abroad. It has only been seen in our country so far, and it will appear in the National Theater for the very first time.
If your children are interested in what is happening on stage, they can spontaneously join in for a while. However, keep them under control and in case their activity interferes too much with the plot, or they go into the dark backstage as little explorers, take them back to the safety of their parents' arms. When the stage is filled with colorful balls, the performance gradually turns into a playroom where you can treat your children to joyful fun with our props and objects on the stage. Even in this part of BatoLaterna, however, think about the safety of your children and make sure that they do not take the props away from the scene or even take them home.
As a souvenir of your children's first theater experience, we offer you a printed program that includes an interactive game pack dedicated to toddlers. Inside you will also find a pexeso or a QR code, through which you can play musical accompaniment reminiscent of our production for the activities offered to the children. Another reminder of a visit to the theater can be the playful and haptic Tik Ťap leporelo based on motifs and objects of the BatoLaterna.

Service information for show visitors
BatoLaterna is a theater production for children from 6 months to 3 years accompanied by at least one adult. Children over the age of 3 who are already interested in a different type of theater could lose their attention while watching BatoLaterna and look for other stimuli for their own entertainment. We expect older children to respect theater habits (e.g. they don't run around the theater, shout, etc.). Visitors and children sit on the stage either on cushions or on seats. Adults and children are asked to enter the stage without shoes, which they can leave in the auditorium.
Each performance lasts about 35 minutes and is loosely followed by a 15-minute game room.
