A work combining contemporary dance, physical virtuosity, singing, acting and poetry

An honest look into the private world of a careerist, a perfectionist and at the same time an unorganized woman. Is it a moment in life or a lifetime? A dream or an awakening? All with a dose of nostalgia and disillusionment. AWake is an intimate, interactive, multidisciplinary work combining contemporary dance, physical virtuosity, singing, acting and poetry…

Through the element of water and the rhythm of daily rituals, AWake sets up a mirror for the soul, offering vision through the seer's crystal ball. It changes perspective through a metaphorical mirror, traveling through time to find a moment of honesty. A woman's conversation with herself, finding the line between normality and madness, easily sliding down the slippery slope to chaos.

Are we celebrating youth or eternity? In the sounding of classical and monumental musical compositions, AWake can be seen as a unique form of requiem, but it breathes immortality.

This powerful, all-feeling work takes audiences in Israel, the US, and Europe on a colorful and exciting journey to catharsis. AWake is a tribute to dance artist Dora Mushanová (1920–1994), grandmother of Miriam Engel.
