Lottery win? Vabank? Or life's jackpot? What started with a coffee at work at the Faculty of Science gradually transformed into a life-long adventure like no other. The two of us's scientific expedition to Antarctica with the Argentine army started off brilliantly. A flight across the Southern Ocean in the world's largest military aircraft, as well as aerobatic flying in combat helicopters just a meter above the ice floes... all of this is just the beginning of our journey to find penguins, seals, sea lions, but especially diatom algae that can inhabit even the most extreme places on our planet, such as the seventh continent. But as soon as we took the last sample remaining in the mosaic of the story of discovering microbial life at the foot of glaciers, something we never expected happened. Whales arrived! Our joint lecture may be a stammering testimony to the pristine beauty of the world below the Antarctic Circle, but this time you will certainly learn about nature too.
